As part of its role of growing and supporting a biofuels industry in the state, the Biofuels Center of  North Carolina joined the North Carolina Biodiesel Association for Biodiesel Day (25 March 2009) at the North Carolina General Assembly in Raleigh. The purpose of the event was to educate and inform the public on the importance of a sustainable biodiesel industry in this state, and included a biodiesel demo, educational exhibits, agency booths and vendor information.

The event was also co-sponsored by the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association and the North Carolina Department of Agriculture.

Several hundred people turned out for the event on a day in which Biofuels Center Acting President Steven Burke addressed the Joint NER Appropriations subcommittee and the House Science and Technology committee.
