Melita Kyriakou of Asheville-based Blue Ridge Biofuels discusses a nationally unique cooking oil-to-biodiesel recycling project. Waste vegetable oil poured down drains can cause blocked sewers and increase water treatment costs. Providing communities with a way of recycling that oil creates a renewable feedstock and reduces water treatment burdens.
